Simon Lynge was born and raised in Greenland. He now lives in Port Townsend, WA with his wife and son. He landed there by way of Copenhagen, London, Nashville and Los Angeles. Simon started writing his own material in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he immersed himself in the songwriting community. After a couple of years he moved to London where he regularly performed at the legendary Kashmir Club, a hang out for many major artists passing through the U.K. “It was an incredible scene back then: I saw Imogen Heap, KT Tunstall and all these great artists play before they broke - everybody performed there. I had a great time”.
In 2002 Simon got to perform in Nashville and California. In Nashville he met CMA “Song Of The Year” award winning songwriter Larry Shell, who helped him establish connections and make demos. “I actually spent a lot of time on Music Row where I slept on a mattress in an empty room of the publishing company Larry worked for. I’d wake up in the morning and go into the conference room and start writing, grab a cup of coffee and then write some more. I got a lot of songs written that way”. Six of the songs Simon wrote during that period are featured on the EP we present here, titled “Beyond My Skin”. Here’s a video of Simon talking about songwriting and recording his debut album.
Simon’s wonderful debut album “A Beautiful Way to Drown” is available at CD Baby.
